What you save

Shishan stores the titles, thoughts, source text and links you enter, images you select or share, recognized text, collections, favorites, and creation/deletion times. These provide browsing, search, and organization on your device. User content is not translated automatically.

Images are saved as JPEGs with a longest edge of at most 2000 pixels. System text recognition runs on the device, and its results are saved locally for search. Recognition can be inaccurate. Shishan does not change originals in your photo library.

The current iOS app has no accounts, cross-device sync, advertising, analytics SDKs, or developer content server. It does not upload your library to a developer server. Search runs locally.

Photos, clipboard, and sharing

The system photo picker provides only images you select. Clipboard content enters the app when you choose Paste or use the system paste action; the app does not read it in the background. The share extension receives content you explicitly send through the system share menu.

Shared images are processed temporarily before you save. Normal cancellation or completion clears the temporary draft. If the system force-quits the extension, temporary files may remain until the system removes them.

Storage and backups

The iOS app and share extension use one local App Group container. Files use iOS file protection. Your device passcode, lock state, and system settings also affect protection.

iOS backups may include app data, depending on your device and backup settings. These backups are separate from app-provided sync. Manage backup copies through your device and backup service settings.

Opening links and sending content elsewhere

Browsing, pasting, and saving do not fetch webpage previews automatically. If you choose Get preview or Refresh preview and confirm, Shishan directly requests that HTTPS website and its declared image services. Those destinations receive the requested URL, including its path and query, your network address, and request information, and may record them under their own policies. These requests do not attach your notes, library images, cookies, or sign-in credentials.

Preview text stays in local files. Processed cover images and site icons use a private app cache capped at 100 MiB. You can cancel a request, remove a preview, or clear preview images in Privacy. Clearing these images keeps saved text and your imported images. Website compatibility and network conditions affect whether a preview is available.

Opening a source link asks the system to open its website or app. That destination processes data under its own policies. When you share out of Shishan, the system sends your selected text, links, or images to the destination you choose. Share only content you have the right to share.

Your controls

You can view, edit, and delete saved ideas. Ordinary deletion moves an idea to Recently Deleted, where it stays until you restore it or permanently delete it. Permanent deletion or Empty removes local records and associated images that are no longer referenced by other records. This cannot be undone in Shishan.

Deleting a saved idea does not remove originals in Photos, copies sent to other services, or historical backup copies. Manage those copies through the corresponding service. You can stop selecting, pasting, or sharing content at any time.

Policy updates

We update this policy when features or data handling change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
